Gay Raccoon Art by Glendon Hyde

Artist. Visionary. Revolutionary.

The work of Pittsburgh-based artist Gay Raccoon Art, seeks to give voice to the broken and discarded. As a youth they experienced oppression and removal from the family home. This didn’t break his beliefs in himself, and through acceptance in the queer community as a drag queen (Anna Conda), a political advocate, and community organizer, their understanding of worth was changed, and an interest on assignation of worth changed his practice to one where donated material from the community, refuse, and found objects, became the source of their artistic expression. Upon joining the Fiber Arts Guild of Pittsburgh crocheting has become the stabilizing force in these expressions. B
